For The Pool:

To whom it may concern,

I have just read the website and as a community member I am quite upset that once again the majority of the community is against the pool. I am not upset because I am on the Board. I am not upset because I have spent countless hours on presenting the new pool and the financing. I am not upset because I use the pool which I haven't as yet............

I am really angry because I am going to loose $5,000 to $10,000 in property value! Some think this is not so so I challenge anyone to hire an appraiser and prove me wrong. Look at it this way.....go take $5,000 out of the bank or borrow it and then take it out to your burn barrel in the back yard and light a match. It's the same thing. Just because you don't see it does not mean it's gone. This community has a history of voting down everything and then wondering why nothing gets done.

We are way behind other communities in both dues and services. I wish our by-laws allowed the Board to just buy the pool anyway but they can't. Everyone who lives here better realize that this place is 30 years old and falling apart. Jeeeze it's only going to cost you $150.00 a year for five years. As a professional financial manager I'll bet I could find that amount in most of your budgets. $12.50 per month....a couple of six packs.....2 1/2 packs of cigarettes......2 to 3 dinners out....do I have to go on!

Let the pool die....let the roads go to gravel......let the clubhouse collapse......then try to sell your house.

The PMWF had a pool when I bought here. It’s an amenity that was listed on its brochure.  I don’t particularly use the pool, but my kids have been in it a few times.  The Old pool is shot.  Its useful life is over.  It’s time for a new pool.

I think the new pool plan is a bit much – handicap access, jets, etc, but the committee put a lot of thought into it, and It is a nice plan at a good value.  The pool is for the whole community, and I think the new plan will serve the community well.

From a property value standpoint it’s a great decision.  Considering investing in your own pool, vs. the community pool, it’s a great decision.  Sure times are tough, but times are always tough, and the pool won’t be getting any cheaper.

I am not willing to force the pool down the community’s throat, and I would resent it if it were forced down mine.  The need for a new pool has been around for a few years now, and it should be no surprise to anyone that our current pool will not open on time, if at all this year.

This is a good deal.  Let’s do it.  I plan to vote YES on the pool.

Against The Pool

I see no comments opposing the new pool. As far as my property values, I would suggest that one look at the 3 legal documents that are in place to ensure our property values remain steady. Unfortunately, they are not enforced, or not uniformly enforced. It is only a matter of time before someone other than myself (and 2 or 3 Board Members) read them and start another lawsuit against the community. These documents protect our property values much more than a pool. A short drive around armed with the aforementioned documents will attest to anyone, the veracity of my statements. Many do not have a clue that not long ago, while the lady of the house was home, an item was stolen in broad daylight from their driveway, down the road thousands of dollars of equipment was stolen, around the corner a house has been vandalized twice. At least one of my former neighbors is in jail for drugs and on many a day one can watch such transactions take place at the 739 entrance.
Hav
ing had some experience with the victims of petty theft, I can assure you they would rather have monies spent on security than on a pool used 3 months a year.  Plus, there are expenditures not included in the pool proposal necessary for operation and maintenance. And last but not least, we have a lake, Del. Township has a recreation area with swimming etc. There are many in this community that simply can not afford $150.00 and to fail to consider them is unconscionable. Now at least you have an  "opposed" opinion.
