ROADS & MAINTENANCE:
Roads:(posted: 01-14-2011)
The second year of our road rehabilitation plan went well, with the completion of Lakewood Drive in the late fall. Wayco began paving in the spring with pot hole patching on Waterforest Drive. This was followed with the rehabilitation of Lakewood Drive; repairing some potholes and paving some larger areas with black top.
When Wayco returned in late fall, they used a new product for the topcoat. This product is winter grade asphalt that is heated to a higher temperature and has higher asphalt content than if topped with stone.
Wayco has assured me that the product is as good if not better than the product that they used last year on Water Forest Drive.
In the spring, we hope to continue with the completion of Maple Ridge Road and Woodland Drive; repairing potholes and applying topcoat.
Woodland Drive has a section of road that has never been paved. That will be addressed in the coming season, as long as the Board of Directors approves the $100,000 budget required for third year repairs. Some property owners have asked when their roads will be addressed. I am trying to do this in the fairest way, by addressing the most commonly used roads first and working down to the least used roads last. The Cul-de-sacs will be addressed after all of the through roads have been completed.
We must stay vigilant with these repairs to keep our roads in good condition.
In closing, I would like to thank you in advance for your patience and understanding.
